Cyanotypes are actual photographs made using the 'cyanotype' process, first invented in 1842. The
chemicals involved in cyanotype photography include Prussian blue, aqueous potassium ferricyanide, and
aqueous ferric amomonium citrate. To produce a cyanotype print, the paper is treated with each of the
chemicals. A negative is then placed upon the treated paper, weighed down with glass, and placed in
sunlight. The combination of sunlight and chemicals imprint the image onto the paper in a vivid blue color.
